The International Driving Document, available to all clients on payment of a nominal fee of 40.00 Euro, is issued under the International Legislation. Its purpose is to assist citizens who are driving vehicles in another country, especially in cases where the Citizen may not be familiar with the local language. On September 19, 1949, the United Nations established an International Document to facilitate the travel of drivers in foreign countries where language barriers create difficulties for both motorists and the police. This document establishes the right for a person to drive in another country when accompanied by an original and valid driver’s license. No driving test is necessary, since this document is a translation of your original driver's license. It is printed in 9 languages: English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, German, Arabic, Japanese and Chinese. You can see the booklet with the different languages with a click here. It's easy to imagine how this might solve your problems. If a police officer for some reason stops you, or you need identification, you can present both documents - the International Driver Document and a valid driver license - that will be in the appropriate language, or at least can be understood. An International Driving Document (often called International Driver License) can be used as identification in most places. If you need to rent a car, it can be valuable as well. In fact, in most countries you cannot rent a car unless you have an International Driving Document. In Europe, travel officials say that "the International Driving Document is more necessary in some countries than others, but it's advised for most." The U.S. State Department also recently issued a statement through their "Tips for Foreign Travel" brochure, stating that more and more countries prefer drivers to carry an IDD as an accompaniment to their state or national license. The International Driving Document is valid for up to three years from date of issue. It is issued to Citizens aged eighteen years or over.
Driving LicensePlease remember: your International Driving Document MUST be accompanied at all times by your original valid driver's license. You may not be allowed to present the IDD as the main document because it is only a translation of your original official driver's license.  Apply for, convert or renew your International Driving license now and protect your National document from foreign police.
