Prison jammers

Stopping communication by gangs

Before installing RF Jamming technology in a Government Office, Prison, Secure Facility, or Military Base, an analysis should be made, taking into account several factors of radio waves, environmental factors, and physics.

Radio Waves: Radio Waves travel to and from cellular phone handsets within single or multiple zones of cellular communication service providers. These zones will vary in signal strength depending upon the location of the cellular phone handset in relationship to the approximate distance of the nearest cellular phone antenna tower (s).

State_prison_2Environment: Radio Waves permeate physical obstructions in order to be sent and received by the users cellular phone. Because cellular service providers take into account the correlation between the location to and from the cellular antennas and the areas they work to cover, the
a) positioning of the cellular panels and
b) their power outputs, are all pre-determined to saturate a given geographic area. For effective Cellular Jamming, topographical limitations are also taken into account such as bodies of water, hills, stone, concrete, and steel materials found in buildings, prisons, and structures that radio signals encounter between the antenna towers and the phone handsets.

Physics: Once the measurement of power output from cellular panels on antenna towers is quantified, an assessment can be made to determine the proper locations and power amplitudes of an RF Jamming System. That means the difference in height or in choosing which wall an RF Jammer is placed upon will bear upon if and when a call can be forcefully dropped by
a cellular jamming system.

Q: How does one determine a solution for effective cellular jamming in a prison or secure facility?
A: One conducts a site survey and takes into account:
•  The location and number of cellular antenna towers around the facility (they may be 500 meters away, they may be 2 kilometers away)
•  How many cellular panels are on each tower
•  Measure their output power at the source
•  Measure the signal strength at the location for planned installation of a Prison Jamming System
